ABSTRACT

SUMMARY. The fields of medicine and social work have grown progressively closer over the years as the interrelatedness of the physical and psychosocial aspects of illness have become known. Infertility treatment requires the same integrated approach. This paper will focus on a model for the psychosocial evaluation of infertility patients as developed by the author. Case examples from the author's clinical experiences will be presented to illustrate the model. The implications for social work within the infertility medical practice will be discussed.
