ABSTRACT

The decision to marry and have children is a major commitment made by two individuals and an investment that can involve many years. At any point in the life of a family there can be crises in the marriage. Some couples “stay together for the sake of the children.” Others make the decision to separate which may bring added pressure on them as parents. In troubled families it is not unusual to find that there are unresolved issues between spouses which they avoid by their involvement in raising the children.
