ABSTRACT

The conclusion covers the closing thoughts of the key concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book has sought to nourish a debate which has the potential to spark significant social change, and it offered in broad strokes, which the authors hope galvanise and orient public debate over our choices for thought and action. Every chapter in this book highlights both the inadequacy of the framework this historical turning point handed down to us and the wealth of perspectives that open up when the definition of prosperity is reworked. The book is far from exhaustive, and explores a few specific fields -work, innovation, the environment -by raising radical questions. The book questions whether contemporary Western societies are capable of the autonomy necessary to put their choices into practice. This book attempts to suggest that authors understanding of prosperity lies at the heart of these three crises.
