ABSTRACT
When opening a f lood evacuation centre in the village of Welagi early in 2015, the Prime Minister of Fiji stated that
in 50 years or so [places like Kiribati, Tuvalu and the Marshall Islands] may no longer exist. And we may have to give some of these people homes in Fiji…[b]ecause we will never turn our backs on our island neighbours.
