ABSTRACT
Care ethics has changed dramatically over the decades. Initially articulated by moral psychologist, Carol Gilligan, the key concepts of care ethics have not only been further developed by feminist philosophers; care has become a key concept for political science, economics, sociology, history, nursing and biomedical ethics, and theology. This article will focus on philosophical conceptions of care, yet given the interdisciplinary investigation and development of this concept, our analysis cannot be limited to philosophical conceptions of care alone.
