ABSTRACT
Conviviality directs our focus on the everyday process of how people live together in mundane encounters, of how they (re)translate between their sustained differences and how they (re)negotiate minimal consensuses. This seems more pressing than ever because of continued diversifi cation, the failure of the integration and multiculturalism paradigms and the restless competition and ongoing marginalisation due to unfavourable economic conditions in times of crisis.
