ABSTRACT
In Finland, a unique tool has been developed which combines healthy urban planning and design. The ‘Kuopio Model’ was developed in the Finnish City of Kuopio. This strategic approach to city planning promotes the recognition, respect and regeneration of three different systems of the urban fabric: walking, transit and car city fabrics (Kosonen 2007).
