ABSTRACT

In this chapter, we apply an expansive approach to the critical theory and the ethics of war. We follow the thinking of Chris Brown, who describes critical theory as “a very broad church,” 1 containing within it a collection of theoretical approaches that differ and sometimes even oppose one another. As such, rather than looking at critical theory as a unified endeavor, this chapter deals in multiple critical approaches that are representative of this body of work without claiming that any single approach is solely representative of critical theory.
