ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on community crime prevention in the United Kingdom (UK) and the United States of America (US). Community crime prevention is a wide-ranging term but one which typically refers to programmes and interventions that seek to motivate citizens to work together, with or without government agencies and other organisations, to develop and implement crime prevention interventions. The mobilisation of community resources, working in partnerships with state and non-state agents and problem-solving are all stressed within community crime prevention programmes and projects.
