ABSTRACT
This chapter is intended to serve as an overview of ELF studies exploring multilingual aspects of various kinds, starting from the beginning of research into sociolinguistic aspects of ELF code-switching, to the latest developments concerning more fluid multilingual practices, such as translanguaging, while emphasising how multilingual resources and practices are a common aspect of ELF communication.
