ABSTRACT

Multiculturality and diversity are typical European features. Not only is Europe a multicultural continent but also the European countries are multicultural, either because they host many nations and languages, or because they received along their history successive waves of immigration and other strong cultural influences. Given the free movement of persons within the European Union, it is much easier today to promote contact between Europeans. Also, Europe continues to attract, as in the past, people from all over the world, because of its high levels of development and overall well-being (economic, political, social, etc.). Many of these people move to Europe fleeing poverty and also because of political or religious persecution in their countries of origin. There are also people who move to Europe for work, educational or cultural reasons.
