ABSTRACT
Degrowth is a “political slogan with theoretical implications” (Latouche, 2009: 7) that has recently started to inspire an increasing number of social movements and academic debates in Europe and beyond. Degrowth signifies a radical critique of the growth paradigm, which is seen as holding modern societies captive. The rejection of growth as the blind driving force of modern society has several roots—ecological, cultural and political.
