ABSTRACT

I suspect I am not alone in finding it more or less impossible to reconstruct a narrative about what drives my methodological approach. I share many of the assumptions about research that Chris May outlines in his contribution to this book, although I doubt I could express it so eloquently. In particular, I think it important to remain open to the diversity of the methods we may use in our research and to keep in mind that the use of any given method should be driven by the questions we ask of the world, not by some notion that particular methods are inherently superior to others.
