ABSTRACT

Prisons and forensic mental health services are complex settings in which to live and work. They present a range of challenges for those forensic clients living in them, as well as for the professionals tasked with overseeing their care, treatment, management, and/or detention. While many professionals working in forensic settings talk positively about their work, it is recognised that this work can impact on staff in a variety of ways. This section provides seven chapters covering a broad range of issues pertaining to forensic practice with a focus on the impact of working in this field and providing theoretical models and practical strategies to support staff to effectively undertake their roles.
