ABSTRACT

This chapter describes our approach to the treatment of sex offenders in a wide variety of settings with differing populations. This approach is grounded in empirical evidence and is guided by current theory on risk, treatment needs and responsivity issues (Andrews & Bonta, 1994). We have primarily delivered this treatment programme in correctional settings but have also adapted it for use with sex offenders with mental illness, in both correctional and forensic settings. This chapter will describe the programme and the adaptations made for use with male populations with mental health challenges.
