ABSTRACT
In this handbook, along with our contributors, we have explored what we assess to be the key themes, issues, policies and practices in child welfare in a global context. Whereas it is not possible to include every geographical context here, nor all of the adversities that children can endure in their lives, what we have sought to do is to provide a ‘miscellany’ of key knowledge and learning via the wide variety of topics covered. Having done so, we are now in a position to draw some wider conclusions and use emergent messages as a lens to look ahead towards opportunities and challenges in child welfare policies and practices.
