ABSTRACT
There are four general reasons why the study of human development can help to provide philosophers with insights into questions about imagination.
Looking at how aspects of the imagination develop can provide information about how different imaginative processes relate to each other. This may suggest which imaginative processes arise earlier in development. In turn, establishing the developmental sequence can suggest which imaginative abilities are prerequisite for others, and hence may be conceptually more basic.
