ABSTRACT

To get started there is a paradox to solve with robo-ethics. is concept indeed is composed by two di erent terms in contradiction one another: robot and ethics.

On the one hand, robot means slave. is word has been used in English language since 1923, deriving from Rossum’s Universal Robots (1920), a play by Karel Čapek,1 where for the rst time the term made its appearance from Czech robota, which means work; the root of this word is related to old Slavonic robota: servitude. So robot arises as concept endowed with the ideas of heavy work and slavery.
