ABSTRACT
What is the nature of thought? Is there an important sense in which thinking is computational? Before answering these questions, one needs to distinguish the different senses in which thinking, and the brain, might turn out to be computational. So any claim that the brain is or is not computational should carefully specify the actual theory of computation that is in play (see Samuels; Stinson; Chemero and Faries, this volume).
