The importance of skill and learning, which are so central to many sports, is arguably no more pronounced than it is in golf. With coaches spending such a high proportion of their time focussing on the area when working with players, the wide variety of resources available in this area is hardly surprising. These resources range from books to professional courses, to teaching aides that incorporate the latest technology. Notable examples include swing trainers and launch monitors, which have had a profound effect on teaching practice in the sport. Although the influence of the coach on the rate of student learning is unquestionable regardless of whether they choose to utilise these resources, with such a variety of content available, they face a difficult task in determining how best to apportion their time with players.
