ABSTRACT

Neuropsychological rehabilitation is increasingly challenged to demonstrate the efficacy and effectiveness of its methods. Understanding what treatments work, and for whom, in remediating the psychological and cognitive effects of brain disorders is critically important for developing more efficient and effective methods and for translating them into widespread use in the clinic. However, establishing the efficacy and effectiveness of neuropsychological rehabilitation treatments is challenging for many reasons, some of them common to rehabilitation more generally. In this chapter several of the main challenges are discussed along with potential solutions that could help to advance our evidence base.
