ABSTRACT
Mainstream economics continues to guide policy towards further wage moderation and austerity as two of the major responses to the Great Recession, in particular in Europe. These policies are deepening inequality in all dimensions and are having detrimental consequences for gender equality in regards to labour market outcomes, such as employment and pay, as well as the division of the unpaid and invisible work burden at home.
