ABSTRACT

The Sound of Lochaber was a six-part radio broadcast made for Remote Performances by London Fieldworks and Mark Vernon. The programmes, which were broadcast over six days, were titled The Gathering, The Angel’s Share, Highland Games, Songlines, The Jacobite and Distillation. The preceding list of sound descriptions was generated from the le names of audio eld recordings made at the following locations: Achindaul, Great Glen Cattle Ranch, Spean Bridge; Gleann Leac na Muidhe; Sound of Arisaig; Jacobite steam train (Mallaig-Fort William); The Rural Education Centre, Torlundy; Arisaig Highland Games; Glen Uig Smoke House; Loch Ailort; Nevis Range; Loch Linnie; the Ben Nevis Distillery, Fort William; the Loch Eilde Mor hydroelectric generating station, Kinlochleven; Glennnan; Fort William High Street; Roshven, Lochailort (see Plates xxii-xxiii).
