ABSTRACT
This chapter analyses the effects of the EU ETS on climate strategies observed in the European electric power industry. In contrast to other industries, this industry saw a substantial deficit of allowances under the evolving EU ETS, making it particularly suitable as object of study. Also its share dominance within the EU ETS system, with heat and electric power combustion installations accounting for 2/3 of total allowances allocated, makes this industry worth particular attention.1
