ABSTRACT
A professional research journal contributes to that profession’s knowledge base. Far more than a bulletin board, a refereed journal presents findings which scholars, acting as peer reviewers, believe relevant to professionals’ theory and practice. Reviewers, as well as journal editors, determine what research is publishable, appropriate for the journal’s mission, and belongs elsewhere, if anywhere.
