ABSTRACT

As the Director of Professional Learning and Curriculum Design for Mindset Works®, I have the privilege of meeting with educators across the country. With sixteen years’ experience in K–12 schools as a teacher and later as an instructional coach, I was constantly looking for ways to motivate my students to learn. The educators I work with today have the same “tell me more” response I had years ago, when first introduced to Carol Dweck’s work on mindsets. It made a significant difference to the way I taught and related to my students, and the outcomes continue to be amazing. Students who move from fixed mindsets about learning to growth mindsets show greater motivation for learning, better grades, and higher test scores.
