ABSTRACT
As our understanding of sustainability grew, the social, ecological, and economic tenets of SD and Elkington’s triple bottom line of planet, people, and profi t ( Elkington 1997 ), have been supplemented by culture as a vital tenet ( Duxbury and Gilette 2007 ). In the future, it is likely that the social, economic, and cultural tenets of the four pillar model ( Hawkes 2001 ) will be further supplemented.
