ABSTRACT
This chapter examines the notion that women trafficking is a mutation of slavery. It argues that the trafficking of women as sex objects involves forceful transportation to other countries and that this is modern slavery. The chapter explores this issue in two contemporary Nigerian novels, Akachi Adimora-Ezeigbo’s Trafficked 1 and Chris Abani’s Becoming Abigail, 2 and looks at how trafficking in women is portrayed in the novels.
