ABSTRACT
Prose fiction is the norm in literary translation. Defined as ‘not poetry’, prose is more widely accessible in translation than poetry is. When we talk about literary translation into English, in fact, the default assumption is that we are talking about novels, novellas and short stories. Poetry, drama and other genres including, for example, literary non-fiction are far less translated than creative fiction.
