ABSTRACT

Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFT; Greenberg & Johnson, 1988; Johnson, 2004) is an integrative approach in the treatment of couple distress. It is among a few couple treatments that have established empirical support for effectiveness in treating couple distress (Chambless & Ollendick, 2001; Lebow, Chambers, Christensen, & Johnson, 2012). EFT was given its name to emphasize the pivotal role that emotions play in the organization of interactional patterns and experiences in intimate relationships (Johnson, 2004).
