ABSTRACT
Not enough attention is paid by professionals or the lay public to sibling relationships among the elderly (Suggs, 1989). In fact, these relationships assume, or reassume, crucial importance in the lives of older adults (Bedford, 1989a). After young adult siblings leave home to establish their own life, the relationship between them often goes underground until they are older (Banks and Kahn, 1982).
