ABSTRACT

Cheng was a 50-year-old woman who came to therapy because of depressive symptoms related to the loss of both her beloved parents in the past two years. She was single and had always lived with her parents. After the death of her parents, Cheng became depressed and lost the will to do almost everything, including her favorite hobby, craftwork. Hiding in her bedroom, she felt cold and lonely. During the therapy sessions, Cheng revealed that she sometimes felt as though her parents were sitting beside her while she was doing her craftwork at home. She admitted that this feeling helped her to maintain an ongoing relationship with her parents and she would not want such a relationship to go away.
