ABSTRACT
The five explorative studies discussed above have considered a range of issues. Three of the studies, those focussing on China, Australia and Bulgaria, used largely survey methods in examining the extent of anomie, the structural conditions giving rise to its emergence and the consequences following from it. The other two studies focussing on Western Africa and South Africa used less structured methods for the collection of data and the analysis of anomic processes in the regions under consideration.
