ABSTRACT
In the United States, investing in the stock market has become a commonly available financial option, accessible through brokerage firms and even the Internet. With so many possibilities at hand, a wide variety of understandings have emerged regarding the market and its relation to the economy. A veritable industry of its own exists to guide would-be investors to potential wealth. One result of this development is that people speak in terms of wins and losses, indicating an attitude towards investing in the stock market as a great game.
