ABSTRACT

The Oxus Civilization, also named the Bactria-Margiana Archaeological Complex (or Culture) (BMAC), developed in southern Central Asia during the Middle and Late Bronze Age 1 and lasted for about half a millennium (ca. 2250–1700 BC) until its decline (ca. 1700–1500 BC). It is one of the recent highlights of archaeology and history of art in the ancient East but it is still mysterious as it bloomed and disappeared rather suddenly.
