The climate change regime has emerged – with a set of principles, norms, rules, and actors with diverse interests – in order to look for solutions to combat this common problem. One of these solutions is the Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Degradation (REDD+) mechanism. Indigenous Amazonian people have responded to the REDD+ global mechanism by developing a discursive strategy and engaging stakeholders within an inter-institutional arena using diverse tools including networking, diplomacy, alliances, and the articulation of local realities with global debates.
