Diana R. Carl, Ed.D., is an assistant professor in the Education Department at Mount Saint Vincent University, Halifax, Nova Scotia (Canada), where she pioneered the Distance University Education via Television (DUET) service. She received her doctorate from Indiana University in Instructional Systems Technology, and she has worked in distance education for over ten years as both an instructional designer and administrator. She has worked in distance and continuing education in a variety of organizations, including Memorial University of Newfoundland, the University of Mid-America and Indiana University, and as a consultant to hospitals and medical organizations. A founding member of CADE (Canadian Association for Distance Education), Dr. Carl has researched and published on instructional design and advanced technologies.
