ABSTRACT
At the end of this chapter, readers should:
understand the nature of IRs and the impact these mega-structures have on destinations and resources;
be able to explain how IR hotel accommodation is incorporated within an IR setting;
describe the multiple transactions that take place between the IR hotel and IR gaming and non-gaming departments, and in particular hotel allotment policy; and
demonstrate how international hotel companies are actively engaged with IRs through brand leverage, partnerships and linking loyalty and reward programmes.
