ABSTRACT

Addressing little boys in early childhood is vital in understanding how masculinities are produced and change within the lifelong project of gender. However, despite the growth of masculinity in research with men and older boys, the focus on little boys under the age of ten in early childhood is subdued. Too often little boys are ignored in masculinity studies, and early childhood studies do not give sufficient attention to gender and masculinities. This chapter argues for a more collaborative approach to the study of little boys in early childhood in order to address practical interventions that are appropriate for younger boys.
