ABSTRACT
For centuries it has been known that man, like all animals, learns through play. He learns the essential skills of physical co-ordination, walking, running, reaching, throwing, catching and so on, by repeating the motions time and time again. He practises these skills in make-believe situations, in various locations, alone or with his fellows. Thus, such games as tag and hide-and-seek serve an important purpose in his development.
