ABSTRACT

Adequate nutrition in neonates and infants is of major importance to assure optimal health, growth, and development and to support recovery during illness or after surgery. Both enteral and parenteral application routes may be used to provide a patient’s caloric requirements. Enteral nutrition can be delivered via an enteral feeding tube (nasogastric/nasoduodenal/nasojejunal, orogastric/oroenteric), a gastrostomy, or a jejunostomy.
