ABSTRACT

The creation story of this chapter is a rich one. I have been tremendously blessed to have the opportunity to visit and collaborate with many wonderful professionals and advocates of art therapy in the Russian Federation during the autumn and early winter of 2016 as a part of a Fulbright Scholar Grant. Without my Russian colleagues’ assistance in terms of research, translation, questionnaire responses, and willingness to share cultural, professional, and personal stories related to end-of-life care, loss, and bereavement, this chapter would not have come together. I extend my thanks to art therapy practitioners who helped me find professionals working in this specialty throughout the Russian Federation. I particularly want to thank my coauthors who wrote from the heart and helped me gain a fuller understanding of Russian perspectives.
