ABSTRACT
The Swedish Board for Accreditation and Conformity Assessment (SWEDAC) is the national accreditation body of Sweden. As manager of the certification division at SWEDAC, I have been involved with accredited certification of persons since 1994. During the development of ISO/IEC 17024, I was a member of ISO CASCO WG 17 and later chaired the IAF task force (the International Accreditation Forum) which produced the guidance to 17024. The purpose of this chapter is to point out difficulties in introducing certification of persons in different schemes 1 and give some examples on methods to overcome those problems. The chapter is rounded off with some practical advice.
