Hume’s moral psychology and contemporary moral psychology

This chapter explores the connections between Hume’s moral psychology and contemporary psychological research. I focus on three themes: reason and passion; agency; and virtue and character. These themes are central to contemporary discourse and, while Hume’s influence on them is often taken to be relatively straightforward, my aim is to identify and develop insight into some more surprising connections between Hume’s moral psychology and contemporary moral psychology.
