ABSTRACT
Few today would dispute that David Hume is one of our most influential philosophers, with enduring contributions in epistemology, metaphysics, philosophy of mind, philosophy of science, ethics, economics, politics, philosophy of religion, and history. These contributions continue to exert a major influence in most areas of contemporary philosophy. Moreover, his empiricism, naturalism, and psychology of the mind and the passions shape many positions and approaches in the sciences and social sciences, at times without the awareness of researchers who continue his legacy.
