ABSTRACT
Styles and strategies have been contentious since they were introduced to the language learning literature in the second half of the last century. This chapter discusses the definitions of the two concepts before moving on to trace their development. Theoretical underpinnings are discussed and research evidence to date is presented, along with methods of data collection and analysis. Practical applications of the concepts are suggested, and the chapter concludes with multiple suggestions for future research.
