ABSTRACT

At the meeting held in this town last week the following resolution was unanimously adopted:―

“That this meeting is of opinion that in the distribution of the Patriotic Fund questions of title to recognition and assistance as a soldier’s wife or widow (as in the case of the Widow Brightwell lately reported in The Times newspaper) ought not to be raised; but that, in all cases the lawful wife or widow of a soldier killed or disabled in the present war should be entitled to participate in the fund now being raised by the nation.”
