ABSTRACT

Sir.—As treasurer of the Finsbury Committee for the Promotion of Subscriptions to the Patriotic Fund, permit me to say that the Royal Commission in nowise recognize the severe distinctions laid down by the Hon. Major Powys with reference to bestowing the benefits arising from subscriptions for the widows and orphans of the brave fellows engaged in sustaining the honour of their country in the Crimea. Lieutenant Fishbourne, R.N., hon. secretary to the Royal Commission, in a letter addressed to one of the hon. secretaries of the Finsbury committee, thus expresses himself:—
