ABSTRACT

Sir,—A vast number of clergymen and many members of Parliament having suggested to the committee of this association the propriety of having collections in all the churches and chapels in the kingdom on the 26th inst. (the day appointed for humiliation and prayer on account of the war) for the benefit of the soldiers' wives and families, the committee have the pleasure to announce that this suggestion is cordially approved by his Grace the Archbishop of Canterbury and by the Right Rev. the Lord Bishop of London, and would therefore earnestly appeal to the clergy of Great Britain and Ireland for their most important co-operation in this good work.
