ABSTRACT

Sir,―I humbly beg to present to you my apologies for thus intruding on your valuable time, but the subject I am about to address you upon will, I hope, be a sufficient excuse. When the Rifle Brigade left Portsmouth my wife, with the other women belonging to the regiment, were left behind without any provision for them, and they are now totally destitute. I beg to ask you to insert this note in your columns, that on the Government perusing it the matter may be brought to their notice. It is the second time this has occurred—going out and returning from the Crimea.
